Why is that? Let's examine the type of people who may ask such questions.
When I hear "Where do I get people?", I have the impression that these representatives of network marketing don’t really understand what they have decided to get involved with. As a result, the people they approach with the Multi Level Marketing (MLM) offer will also miss the point.
Herein lies the discomfort in proposing the MLM business model to others – because it merely sounds like a story about the business from someone else’s perspective, not your own. People perceive it as some kind of trick.
Before addressing the question of "Where do I get people for network marketing?", it would be wise to address the following:
1. WHO are the people you want to invite into network marketing?
2. More importantly, WHAT do you want to offer these folks? Specifically, what value would people get from getting involved in network marketing?
Upon fully understanding the underlying concept of WHAT should be offered and to WHOM, the question of where to recruit people for your MLM will disappear by itself. However – if YOU have not attained a result that may inspire, what is there to recommend and promote to others?
Create your own results to boast about! If you have not yet experienced success – experience it! It does not matter whether the success is in the form of improved health or sales profit. Escape the vicious cycle of "there are no result because there are no people." Invitations being extended to others is secondary to achieving the intended result for your own self. Write down all pros and cons of your journey in this business, and offer the opportunity to those who might be interested in it.
In conclusion, let us consider the primary question posed in this post in its literal sense – meaning the indication of an actual place WHERE you might find people for your MLM business.
It is common knowledge that if going mushroom-gathering, one will not search for them on the asphalt sidewalk – because that is not where mushrooms grow. Where, then, does the MLM networker need to go in order to find those who can be invited into the business?
There are two basic “spheres” available when searching for MLM candidates – in-person “real” life, and online.
It is easiest to make contact with a person who has “paused” and is therefore not moving quickly and with a specific purpose. The individual might be relaxing for an extended period of time, stopping to rest, or having a snack.
So then what? You interacted with the person, but when you parted ways, he/she did not get your contact information? Who are you in his life then? A random stranger – or possible contributor to the creation of his/her happy future? ALWAYS leave a business card with your contact information or product catalogs so the person can connect with you after the initial meeting if they so choose. Or, unobtrusively obtain the other person’s contact information and be the one to initiate follow-up.
On a freezing cold autumn evening, you go out in search of a person who may order your product or become interested in the MLM business. While all along he/she is sitting at in the comfort and warmth of their home – perusing the internet and looking for YOU! He/she wants to get involved in your business; he/she wants to order products in your catalog, but, alas, there is no mention of your name on the World Wide Web. Perhaps, only for now =)
Best of luck searching for your future MLM downline!
